DESCRIPTION

Located between the John Peel Stage (to the north), Silver Hayes (to the south) and the Pyramid Stage (to the south-east) – Lower Mead is known for the energy in and around it, which in turn accommodates many of Glastonbury’s revellers, and thus, a suspect to filling up rather quickly.

Since opening a small cocktail bar at Glastonbury in 2011, and up until its final year in 2019, The Beat Hotel (which was located at the bottom of this field) was one of the Festival’s most popular venues.

The 2022 instalment of the Festival saw The Beat Hotel replaced by a new venue called San Remo – which is created by the same team and would most likely fit the lively, late-night atmosphere of the area.

PROS & CONS

👍  PROs
  • Great if you’re for discovering new up-and-coming bands with the John Peel Stage being at your feet.
  • Close to the Other Stage as well as Silver Hayes.
  • A relatively short walk from Pedestrian Gate A.

👎  CONs
  • This area endures almost 24-hour traffic as it is located next to the main access road into the site – you can imagine the noise.
  • John Peel is one of the most visited stages at the Festival and as such attracts a hefty crowd which might end close to your campsite.
  • Shangri-La has never been so far.

⚖️  SUMMARY

For the reveller at heart. If that is not you, please move along, nothing to see here.
