INTRODUCTION
South Park 1 along with its neighbour South Park 2 share similar characteristics in being small and somewhat secluded camping fields. Although South Park 1 is a bit further away from The Park than South Park 2, they are both within reasonable walking distance to that area.
Like the adjacent South Park 2, this field is also positioned close to the Festival’s perimeter Super-Fence and is surrounded by hedgerows which make it feel somewhat intimate in comparison to the rest of the fields. That said, in 2017 Glastonbury introduced a new area to this part of the site – known as Cineramageddon – which inevitably adds more by-passers and hubbub to the mix.
As opposed to its neighbour South Park 2, which tends to fill up quite quickly, South Park 1 has plenty of camping space. That said, those of you who arrive late on the Thursday will most likely have to settle near the perimeter fence, located at the back of the field.
You would ideally access this campsite from the West by Gate D – any other gate gives distant and complex access to this campsite – as those arriving via Gate A (on foot or by public transport), or any other gate for that matter should be prepared physical (and mentally) for about a 20-minute walk.
SUMMARY
Great for those who like some seclusion, and being close to The Park area – but don’t mind a bit of a walk to where all the action is at.
