Hey Joe 👋, How would you describe yourself and what you do to those who don’t know anything about you?

Curly-haired man on a mission to get people exercising more and feeling stronger, healthier and happier.

When was the first time you ever heard about Glastonbury Festival — what was the context?

My dad is a big music fan and told me stories when I was a kid about some of the most legendary sets he ever saw at Glastonbury. We then watched it on TV together every year.

What did you think of the reaction to your Glastonbury debut last year?

I was blown away that over 2000 people turned up to exercise with me. It was a boiling hot day and the sun was burning down on us but everyone gave it a good go and left with a sweaty, red hot but smiley face.

What did you notice about the crowd that joined in?

What made me laugh was seeing people who clearly hadn’t been home yet from the night before still getting involved and having the energy to finish the workout. Also loved seeing so many young kids take part. Put a big smile on my face.

Why do a workout at Glastonbury?

It’s not something you usually do at a music festival but Glasto is an amazing place to try something new. It gets you feeling energised and motivated and you will go on to have the best day ever.

Two stages this year — what can people expect, and when and where will it all take place (stages and schedule)?

I’m so excited to be coming back this year with the opportunity to do two workouts over two days on two different stages. I love bringing people together through exercise and good music so expect great tunes and short bursts of exercise. Things like high knees, star jumps and squats. It will be a lot of fun so please bring all your mates too.

What should Glasto-goers planning to attend a Joe Wicks HIIT session bring with them to the workout?

Just bring plenty of water and a good pair of trainers so you are comfortable.

Any tips for festival fitness in general?

I was amazed by how many steps I did last year covering all the fields. The walking and dancing alone is incredible for your fitness. If you want to festival fit start building those daily steps up now.

Glastonbury is well known for being the best music and arts festival in the world, but some would say it should also be considered one of the best food festivals around — Did you manage to try any of the food at last year’s event, and if so, do you have any favourite food stalls?

I literally did not stop eating when I was there. I really was impressed with not only the amount of food stalls but the variety of cuisine from all over the world. I remember having an amazing burger and some Tibetan dumplings with chilli oil. You will not be disappointed by all the food. It’s delicious.

Looking at the 2024 line-up — who are you most looking forward to seeing at Glastonbury Festival this year?

I’m a big fan of Coldplay and Dua Lipa so won’t be missing them. Also looking forward to seeing Burna Boy and The National.
