Keeping with tradition, Glastonbury 2025 has been confirmed to take place on the final weekend of June and is set to run from Wednesday the 25th, through to Sunday the 29th, at Worthy Farm in Pilton.

As ever, ticket demand for the legendary event always outstrips supply, and after the first wave of tickets all sold out last November, fans are on the lookout for any other way to get to Worthy Farm this summer.

Along with entering competitions or working at the Festival, one of the best ways to go to the Festival (almost) for free would be to volunteer at Glastonbury with a charity. This usually entails working 3 x 8-hour shifts over a 5-day period — which is basically the duration of the festival.

What you do with the remainder of your time is up to you, and if that’s not enough, volunteers often get access to a private campsite, free meals, and hot showers – yes, you read correctly, we said HOT SHOWERS! At Glasto!

Although you won’t have to buy a ticket to the festival, you will, however, be asked to pay a deposit when you sign up to volunteer (more or less equivalent to the ticket price) which you will get back when you follow the charity’s guidelines and complete all your shifts (which in some cases also include some training beforehand).

Below we’ve compiled a list of most of the causes & services that provide volunteering opportunities at Glastonbury Festival, along with everything you need to know regarding shift times, role requirements the application process and much more.

We’ll be updating this guide periodically once more information makes itself available, but meanwhile, take your time and read through each of the volunteering opportunities below.

Oxfam is one of the leading charities involved with Glastonbury and has been working with the Festival for over 25 years. The global poverty alleviation charity brings a 2,000+ strong volunteering team to the event each year – including stewards, campaigners and shop volunteers, spread out throughout the site.

5. Upload your video as an unlisted file to YouTube and paste the URL into the box provided in your profile.

6. If you have campaigned with Oxfam anytime from 2022 onwards, then all you need to do is make your application for each festival you’d like to join them at. You do not need to provide a video or paragraph as they know your friendly face already! Instead, please answer the questions:

a. ‘What would you tell a new volunteer you wish you knew when you started?’
b. ‘What is your best tip for festival campaigning? ‘
c. ‘What festivals would you like to campaign at that we currently don't, whether this is an existing Oxfam festival or not?’

7. Oxfam will then review every application and accept those they think would make a great fit (if you are not successful, your deposit will be returned to you after they have reviewed your application).

Application Requirements

To be considered for a campaigning place at Glastonbury in 2027, following their fallow year, you must have campaigned with Oxfam at three festivals or more in the 2025/2026 seasons. In 2025 Oxfam will not have a public launch for campaigning at Glastonbury. Only their top campaigners from 2024 will be invited to apply.

WaterAid provides clean water, decent toilets and hygiene knowledge to people who don’t yet have access to them. The charity’s presence has grown tremendously since its first appearance at Worthy Farm in 1994 and nowadays brings more than 600 volunteers to Glastonbury Festival each year. As well as introducing Talking Toilets, some of the charity’s biggest highlights at the Festival include launching WaterAid’s water refill points in 2014 and the creation of their Loo Crew cleaning teams. Then in 2019, WaterAid quadrupled the number of Kiosks to support Glastonbury’s ban on single-use plastic, ensuring everyone could access free tap water as part of their festival experience.

WaterAid Roles

Tim Winwright, WaterAid chief executive centre meets volunteers at Glastonbury Festival 2019.

General info

From refilling water bottles to looking after the loos, WaterAid's volunteers help make sure festivals stay clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone – all whilst raising awareness of the life-changing power of clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.

Although you don’t get to choose which crew you'd like to join, as part of the application process, you will be able to highlight any particular skills and experiences that will help them allocate the most suitable role to you.

Role (1)

Water Team

WatAid’s water bars and kiosks help keep over 200,000 festival-goers happy and hydrated. In this team, you'll be busy providing free water refills, selling and distributing pre-ordered reusable bottles, and selling merchandise.

Role (2)

Sanitation Team

Most of WaterAid’s Glastonbury volunteers are part of the sanitation team. You could be helping to run the Good Loos or women's urinals, or keeping toilets across the site (over 2,000 of them!) clean, as part of the legendary Loo Crew.

Role (3)

Hygiene Team

WaterAid’s water point roaming teams play a crucial role in monitoring and cleaning sinks, taps and water refill points across the site. Volunteers also make festival-goers aware of their nearest water points, and generally act as fonts of all water knowledge.

Shifts

4x6-hour shifts (with some teams required to volunteer overnight).

Application Dates

23rd January

Application Process

1. Register with the WaterAid application system (if you haven’t already).

2. Have your personal details to hand (including a recent photo and details of your emergency contacts).

3. Once applications open, click the link provided by WaterAid socials and follow the instructions on screen.

Application Requirements

Write a statement detailing how you've supported and helped WaterAid in the past.

Deposit

Yes:
• £60 if you have volunteered with WaterAid before.
• £200 if you haven't volunteered with WaterAid before.

Benefits

• Dedicated camping in WaterAid campsite (not inc. camping equipment).
• Crew only access showers and toilets.
• Volunteer marquee with tea, coffee, and biscuits.
• Free food voucher for every completed shift.

More Info

If you volunteered with WaterAid at two or more festivals in 2024, or if you've volunteered at five or more over the past five years, you'll automatically benefit from priority status for this summer – Although this doesn’t guarantee you a place on the team, it does however mean that they'll process your application first.

Greenpeace is a movement of people who are passionate about defending the natural world from destruction, with their vision being a “greener, healthier and more peaceful planet, one that can sustain life for generations to come”. The charity has been a partner of Glastonbury since 1992, and in return for creating an amazing field full of attractions (think hot showers, café, stage and bands, skate ramp, climbing wall), the Festival makes a very generous donation to Greenpeace to enable them to carry on protecting and conserving the environment and promoting peace.
