“2008 was my first experience of Glastonbury and what an experience it was” – Clare Masterson

“2008 was my first experience of Glastonbury and what an experience it was! My friends had organised the tickets, tents and transport and I really didn’t know much about Glastonbury before attending that year. When we arrived, we saw a lady who had broken her ankle in the mud, she was awaiting medical attention. We all wondered what we had got ourselves into after seeing her stuck in the mud, our worries were quickly squashed and then sun came out for a glorious festival. As I’d only packed rainproof clothing, I had to get some more clothes and I was amazed at how much there was to choose from.

2008 was a somewhat controversial year as Jay Z was headlining, his set was amazing and I’m so fortunate to have witnessed it. My favourite set was the Courteeners at the John Peel stage, I had just been listening to their new album before the festival and even more so afterwards. Our first experience of the toilets at Glastonbury is one that will stay with me forever. My friend Ana was heaving in the cubicle next to me because of the smell, luckily for us, we managed to find better toilets.

My favourite aspect of Glastonbury is most definitely everyone’s carefree vibe, young and old alike. I returned to Glastonbury in 2017, seven months pregnant! There was no way I was going to miss Radiohead headlining. I can’t wait to take the children to their first Glastonbury, I hope they’ll have as many magical memories as I have.”

My first Glastonbury was 1994 as a 27-year-old with a group of mates. Blessed with the weather, incredible lineup, phenomenal vibes, paradise. Only missed a handful ever since, my spiritual home. Tried most of the others but no comparison. Struggled for tickets lately and my health isn't great so not ...
