Emily Eavis shares further insight into what’s in store when Glastonbury returns in 2019
Speaking to Apple’s Beats 1 host, Matt Wilkinson, Eavis discussed Stormzy’s appointment for next year’s Glastonbury Friday night headliner slot.
Blown away by the grime artist’s Other Stage appearance at last year’s festival – “I totally believe he can do it. We as Glastonbury need to create headliners, and at this point, Stormzy is the perfect person to do that. We can’t always go over the same ground… it feels really exciting” said Eavis.
Further into the discussion, Eavis addressed other performers prospects – “We’re probably about 90% complete with our bookings”, and the likes of Liam Gallagher making a Glasto appearance: “Obviously we’d like to have Liam Gallagher, but nothing is ready to be announced quite yet” before teasing that there will be “one more announcement before Christmas”.
In an interview earlier this week, The 1975’s Matty Healy was on Wilkinson’s show telling the Beats 1 host that he himself will be at Worthy Farm for 2020 saying: “I’ll be at Glastonbury. Whether we headline it or not, who knows?” – Wilkinson informed Emily of this and she then responded by saying: “Oh really! That’s good! Interesting… OK, I mean, they’re great, obviously we would love to have The 1975…”.
