“I will do something for the benefit of mental health but it won’t be seen as capitalising on a tragic situation…”
Gizz Butt has announced he will not be performing the DJ set planned for the Keith Flint ‘Appreciation Hour’ at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
In a statement made via his Facebook account, yesterday (May 4), Butt said: “I’m sorry to say this but I’m going to pull out of DJ’ing the Keith Flint appreciation hour. People are seeing it as an act of self promotion and I never wanted that. Also it’s getting so big with the press and I don’t feel worthy of it.”
In another post, he continued to explain his reasons for standing down, saying: ” It’s due to the reason that it’s messing with the heads of some people that are closest to Keith and it’s causing upset and I never intended for that to happen.” See the full statement below.
The Prodigy were booked to perform at this year’s Glastonbury 2019 before the tragic death of the original ‘Firestarter‘ icon.
Flint’s former bandmate and The Prodigy‘s live guitarist Gizz Butt, was set to perform an hour-long DJ set in his honour at the Shangri-La area.
Glastonbury 2019 runs between June 26 and 30 at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset.
