“The official cider of the Glastonbury Festival” appears to have a competition in the works

Mallets aka “The official cider of the Glastonbury Festival” has teased that they will be running a competition for the opportunity to win tickets for Glastonbury 2020.

Notifying would-be-Glasto-goers via a tweet this afternoon (December 1), to keep their “eyes peeled”, while attaching an image to the post depicting the Mallets brand logo coupled with the official Glastonbury Festival sign and a statement which reads: “Win Glastonbury Festival Tickets – Coming Soon!”

Earlier this year the cider company urged fans of the Festival to get to Tesco and purchase a promotional pack of Mallets to be in with a chance of winning tickets for Glastonbury 2019.

Mallets ended up giving away 5 pairs of Glastonbury tickets for the 2019 edition of the Festival last summer, to 10 lucky winners, in addition to 1,000 instant win prizes including Mallets t-shirts.

The new brand from Showerings Cider Mill in Shepton Mallet – which is part of the Brothers Cider family – had replaced Thatchers as Glastonbury’s official brand of cider in 2019 and was sold at 110 bars across the Festival site last summer.

Matthew Showering, managing director, said: “We are honoured to return to Glastonbury once again with our ‘Cider for Gods’, Mallets.

“We have been part of the festival for more than 20 years, having introduced Brothers cider to Glastonbury back in 1995, so the festival holds a special place in our hearts.

“We have worked extremely hard perfecting Mallets and this latest deal is testament to its quality; we can’t wait for the Glastonbury community to try it.

Mallets boast two types of cider –

Mallets Original Cider
ABV Can 5% | ABV Draught 4.5%

A thirst-quenching medium dry apple cider forged from the juice of freshly pressed bittersweet apples selected from our Somerset orchards.

Mallets Dark Fruit
ABV Can 4% | ABV Draught 4%

A refreshing blend of Mallets Original cider with natural blackcurrant and blackberry flavours, ready to quench the toughest of thirsts.

Glastonbury Festival’s founder, Michael Eavis, said: “We feel it’s very important to have a local producer of cider at the festival, showcasing some of the best cider Somerset has to offer.

“Mallets is produced just a stone’s throw from the festival and we’re really looking forward to working with them.

“It tastes great and I’m sure our cider drinkers will love it. It’s already going down very well in the village Working Men’s Club.”

More on the Mallets competition as we hear it.

Meanwhile, Paul McCartney was the first headliner to be announced for the 2020 edition of the Festival and joins Diana Ross who was officially confirmed earlier this year as Glastonbury’s 50-anniversary ‘Legends’ slot performer – while Mike Skinner and Carl Cox are the two latest big-scale artists to self-confirm for the Festival’s 2020 bill.

Despite the fact that the full line-up for Glastonbury 2020 has yet to be released – all tickets for the Festival’s 50th anniversary have now sold out, with General Admission tickets selling out in 33 minutes, following Coach + Ticket Packages which sold out in just 27 minutes.

There are still ways to go to Glastonbury next year, and in addition to being able to volunteer – there will also be a resale of any cancelled tickets in the spring, with coach + ticket packages going up for resale on April 16 – followed by a general admission tickets resale (which don’t include travel) on April 19.

Glastonbury 2020 will take place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset – from Wednesday 24th to Sunday 28th June.
