Could the girl group be set to join the Glastonbury 2019 line-up after all?
Earlier this year (November 5th) the Nineties girl group announced their reunion plans and return with a set of UK stadium performances scheduled for 2019.
Following their highly anticipated reunion, and months of speculation whether or not the Spice Girls might grace Worthy Farm’s iconic Pyramid Stage – Mel B has recently told The Sun that they are in talks with bosses Michael and Emily Eavis to headline the festival.
At first, the girl group addressed those Glastonbury rumours in their first major interview since announcing their reunion, saying there are “no plans for that [Glastonbury]…” – while Mel B interjected by saying; “we should though”.
Now, in a report by The Sun, Scary Spice said: “Glastonbury. It’s been talked about. But we’re so pop and it’s so cool — that’ll be funny to me.
“I think Mel C would really appreciate us doing that — she’s the cool one. She’s the cool indie chick.”
Confirming their return to the live scene on Twitter, the girls shared a video featuring Mel B, Mel C, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton delivering a mock news bulletin. The Spice Girls will be touring as a four-piece, as previously reported, Victoria Beckham will not be taking part in the pop act’s reunion.
Although the timing for a Glastonbury appearance could not be more of a perfect fit in the Nineties group’s schedule next year, with their 23-date UK stadium tour running between May 27 and June 15 – it remains to be seen whether the Glasto rumours were correct on this one.
That being said, if the rumours do turn out to true, the girls would have plenty of time to rest up after the tour before getting their wellies out for Glasto, which runs between 26 and 30 June.
