December 30, 2019Glastonbury starts recruiting for the 2020 crew catering team.

December 27, 2019 – Qatar World Cup organisers consult Glastonbury Festival on accommodation: The small-scale Gulf state expects 1.6million football fans to descend in 2022 for the World Cup and have asked Glastonbury for help.

December 25, 2019 – Louis Tomlinson confirms he’ll be attending Glastonbury 2020: The One Direction star says he “routed” his tour around the Festival’s 50th anniversary in 2020 and will be attending the event as a punter.

December 21, 2019Noel Gallagher mentions Glastonbury in a recent interview while talking about his opening act: The Chief says his supporting act Confidence Man are going to be at “Glastonbury this year [2020]”, in what almost sounded like him being very close to also letting it slip that so will he.

December 15, 2019 – Tayler Swift announced as Glastonbury 2020’s Sunday night headliner: In addition to the announcement coming earlier than expected (December 15, rather than January 15) – it was also the first time a headliner had ever been announced on a Sunday.

December 14, 2019Aerosmith seemingly get confirmed for Glastonbury 2020 on BBC Radio 2: Johnnie Walker appears to have confirmed the American band for Glastonbury 2020 on The Rock Show (December 14) – saying: “Some gig news about Aerosmith […] forgot to tell you, they will be playing at Glastonbury next June – the big 50th-anniversary show. That should be quite something else”.

December 6, 2019Aerosmith appear to self-confirm themselves for Glastonbury 2020: An official mail-out gets sent to the band’s fan base listing the American rock icons as playing “Glastonbury, UK” on June 27 – which just happens to be the Saturday of the Festival.

December 4, 2019Foals announce 2020 tour dates leaving Glastonbury weekend wide open: In addition to the massive end-of-June-Glasto-gap, the four-top-10-gold-selling-album band also fit nicely with what Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis in regards to the Other Stage having “Pyramid-level headliners” for the 50th anniversary in 2020.

December 3, 2019Taylor Swift Glastonbury 2020 rumours reinforce: Swift gets confirmed as headlining British Summer Time Hyde Park in 2020 with no mention of it being a “UK exclusive” performance.

December 1, 2019 – Mallets Cider teases Glastonbury 2020 ticket competition“The official cider of the Glastonbury Festival” appears to have a competition in the works telling would-be-Glasto-goers to keep their “eyes peeled” in a statement: “Win Glastonbury Festival Tickets – Coming Soon!”

December 1, 2019Liam Gallagher says he wants a “cheeky little slot in a tent” for Glastonbury 2020: In a reply to a fan on Twitter pleading him to “Please play at Glastonbury,” – Gallagher said: “I want to nothing big like just a cheeky little slot in a tent”.

November 27, 2019Kendrick Lamar Glastonbury 2020 rumours intensify: Lamar get confirmed for headlining WOO HAH! Festival in 2020, in what is the first indication that the American rapper is both active and in Europe in 2020.

November 25, 2019Emily Eavis reveals that the two remaining headliners have never played the Festival before while confirming one is male and the other is female – Also saying a pre-Christmas announcement is on the cards.

November 24, 2019Fake Rage Against the Machine 2020 tour poster surfaces online: An anonymous Australian-based “concert troll” later tells Wall of Sound that they were behind the fake poster.

November 24, 2019‘Glastonbury 50’ named a ‘Book of the Year’ by The Times: Following ‘Glastonbury 50‘ becoming the highest new non-fiction entry and shooting straight into 3rd place in the Sunday Times Bestseller List for hardback books (December 2019) – The official book of the behind-the-scenes, inside story of the legendary Festival – composed by organisers Michael and Emily Eavis, is named by The Times newspaper as one of the ‘Books of the Year’ for 2019.

November 22, 2019Michael Eavis on Glastonbury 2020 headliner: “You would love HER to bits”: When asked about how planning is coming along for Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary in 2020 – Eavis said: “I’ve got two of my favourite headliners… already booked […] I can’t tell you the second one […] you would love her to bits… everybody does […] but no names at the moment…”.

November 21, 2019Glastonbury 2020 accommodation options sell out in 39 minutes: Pre-pitched tents in the Tipi Village, Worthy View and Sticklinch, along with campervan & caravan pitches, all sell out in under 40 minutes.

November 21, 2019The Guardian announces Harry Wyld as Glastonbury 2020 Illustration Prize winner: Wyld will have his designs featured as the brand’s presence at the 2020 edition of the Festival, seeing his visuals appear on the Guardian’s mini-guide (which Glasto-goers use to navigate the hefty lineup), on the canvas bags handed out (with a newspaper) at the festival – in addition to further pieces that will be created to appear on staff T-shirts, marquees and flags, as well as in the lead-up print and digital marketing activity.

November 21, 2019Coldplay’s Chris Martin reveals a tweet put him off Glastonbury 2020 gig: When asked if there is any chance Coldplay will be playing Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary in 2020, Martin said: “No. I did pop up on stage last year [Glastonbury 2019], and then I saw a tweet afterwards that said ‘you can always rely on him [Chris Martin] to come on in a tracksuit and ruin everything…’” He continued:  “So I was like, you know what, A- I should work on my trousers, and B- I shouldn’t be online, and C- maybe I should go watch Glastonbury for a year or so…”.

November 20, 2019Beck keeps options open for a possible Glastonbury 2020 gig: When asked about the possibility of playing Glastonbury 2020, the ‘Loser’ singer said “I don’t know… we did it two years ago I think… and we’ve done it twice, and it’s always a mud bath whenever we play…” Mentioning the notorious Glastonbury wether, the American singer-songwriter said: “Every time we play they say its the worst rain they’ve ever had” – to which Jo jokingly said “then don’t play then”, with Beck playing along “that’s what I’m telling you, do not let us play… we bring the rain,”.

November 18, 2019Paul McCartney announced as Glastonbury 2020’s Saturday night headliner: Following Macca‘s cryptic tweet – Glastonbury officially confirm the former Beatle will be returning to Worthy Farm to headline the Festival’s 50th anniversary in 2020.

November 17, 2019Paul Heaton says he will “hopefully” be at Glastonbury 2020: The Mancunian singer-songwriter statement came in response to a question posed to him during a late-night Q&A session on Twitter – “Glastonbury next year??”, to which Heaton replied: “Hopefully!”.

November 15, 2019TLC “hoping” to play Glastonbury 2020 following London gig announcement: In an interview to the BBC (November 15), Chilli was asked what she thinks of the rumours that TLC could make their Glastonbury debut in 2020 – “Is that what you heard? I heard that too. That’s what I’m hearing,” she giggles, slyly. “I’m hoping. Fingers crossed, toes crossed, legs crossed. Everything that it’s possible to cross, it’s crossed.”

November 14, 2019Emily Eavis says Glastonbury 2020 will be as 50/50 gender split as possible: “It’s important we go as close to 50/50 as we can”.

November 13, 2019‘Glastonbury 50’ book named the Sunday Times Bestseller List highest new entry: The authorised book of the behind-the-scenes, inside story, of the legendary Festival – ‘Glastonbury 50‘ – composed by Michael and Emily Eavis becomes the highest new non-fiction entry while shooting straight into 3rd place in the Sunday Times Bestseller List for hardback books for that week.

November 11, 2019Chris Martin says Coldplay will NOT be performing at Glastonbury 2020: While speaking to Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald from the Australian breakfast radio show on Nova 96.9, Fitzy and Wippa – Martin was asked about the band’s plans for Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary in 2020 to which he replied: “We won’t be playing at Glastonbury 50 – although, I’ll probably be there because I love going – It’s like our home from home… but we won’t be playing”.

November 4, 2019The ballot for 50 pairs of Glastonbury 2020 tickets is drawn: On November 4, Glastonbury Festival had updated its ballot info page to inform would-be Glasto goers that “The 50 winners have now been selected and contacted by the email used for their registration” – in order to provide them with details of how to purchase their tickets.

November 1, 2019Jeff Goldblum expresses his desire to return to Glastonbury Festival in 2020: Appearing on BBC One’s The One Show (November 1), Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis talked about the Festival 50th anniversary in 2020 and the new Glastonbury 50 book. Upon mentioning Diana Ross as being appointed to the ‘Legend slot’, Goldblum was quick to say I’ll be there, I wanna see that. Eavis then asked You’ll come back, won’t you Jeff?, with the actor/jazz musician replying If you invite me, I’ll be there – I had the best time ever.

October 31, 2019Emily Eavis reiterates Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are “obviously never going to happen”: While speaking to Jo Whiley at BBC Music Introducing Live’s event at London’s Tobacco Dock (October 31), Eavis also confirming that two out of three Pyramid headliners have already been booked and that they have “not done the Festival before”. In the same interview, Emily also said: “I think particularly because it’s the 50th we’ve got kind of Pyramid-level headliners on the Other Stage.”

October 31, 2019Mike Skinner self-confirms for Glastonbury 2020: Mike Skinner shared a post on Instagram for Take Me As I am, his recent collaboration with Chris Lorenzo, revealing both will be appearing at Glastonbury 2020 for a back 2 back session, saying – “the first person to name all the legends in this video will be my guest at glastonbury 2020 when i go back to back with @chrislorenzo66 !!!”

October 27, 2019Glastonbury 2020 Local & Sunday tickets sell out: The third wave of Glastonbury 2020 tickets went on sale on Sunday, October 27 for local residents from 9am in three instalments and were all gone by 11:22am.

December 23, 2019Chances of Elton John playing Glastonbury 2020 substantially diminish: Following earlier reports, rumours and speculation about the possibility of Elton John playing Glastonbury’s 50th anniversary in 2020 – the 72-year-old Hall of Fame musician announced he’ll be playing gigs in the US, on both 26th and 27th of June – which coincide with the Friday and Saturday of the Festival – which almost certainly rule him out as playing in 2020, unless he flys back in time for Glastonbury on Sunday (June 28), after doing the shows in the US.

October 22, 2019Robbie Williams says he wants to headline Glastonbury – but not the ‘Legends’ slot: The pop icon – who previously graced the hallowed fields of Worthy Farm in 1998 – told The Sun he had previously found performing at the festival in 1998 “upsetting” – saying: “When I was at Glastonbury it felt as if the rest of the festival was like: ‘What the f*** are you doing here, you c**t?’ ” “I’d like to headline and that’s what I’d like to do, if I did anything. As far as I know, nothing is in the air for that. But they know where I am if they need me.” “I don’t want to do the legends slot, though.” He added.

October 21, 2019Carl Cox self-confirms for Glastonbury 2020: Speaking to DJ Mag – after winning the Highest Techno award in this year’s DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll and landing the No.35 spot overall – the house and techno record producer and DJ, confirmed he’ll be playing Glastonbury 2020, saying: “We’ve got the 50 years of Glastonbury coming up, so I’m looking forward to be playing that, and that’s going to be something which is a landmark of Glastonbury musical history…”

October 18, 2019Blondie’s Debbie Harry says she would “love” to play Glastonbury: Speaking before a book signing at Waterstones Piccadilly in London (October 18) – The 74-year-old model and actress addressed rumours that the band might play Glastonbury 2020 – saying: “I wouldn’t mind. I would love it actually. We will see. Nothing has been brought up yet.”

October 16, 2019Biffy Clyro say they are “waiting for that call” to headline Glastonbury: Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the Q Awards (October 16) at The Roundhouse in London, James Johnston said: “My phone is not on silent, we’re ready for the call should it come… obviously Glastonbury is an institution that you can’t say too much about, we’ve had many great appearances here over the years… and you know, we’re waiting for that call… we’re ready, we’re ready…” – Simon Neil added that the band “are here for the call Emily [Eavis], if you want to give us a call…”

October 16, 2019Glastonbury warns of fake Festival tickets: Emily Eavis took to social media to warn and advise would-be Glasto-goers of “unauthorised sellers” and the risk of falling victim to unauthorised sellers or buying fake tickets.

October 13, 2019Emily Eavis rules out Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin for Glastonbury 2020: While Speaking to The Times columnist Hugo Rifkind, at the Cheltenham Literature Festival event (October 13), Emily Eavis reportedly ruled out Fleetwood Mac as being one of the three headliners for Glastonbury 2020, while also confirming that two acts have been booked to headline so far – with the final act still being worked on. According to Eavis, Led Zeppelin is also often a band that appears in the Glasto rumour-mill, but they would be unlikely to appear in 2020 either.
