Michael Eavis has announced today (8.12) that next year’s Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza will take place on August 4, 2018.
Although Glastonbury Festival itself will be taking its traditional year off in what is referred to as “a fallow year” in 2018, the Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza will return to the Abbey’s spectacular surroundings for the 22nd time.
The bill is yet to be announced, but the event’s last five headliners – Brian Wilson, Van Morrison, Ray Davies, Robert Plant and Bryan Ferry – give an indication of the calibre of acts Eavis has attracted to the event in recent years.
Michael Eavis said: “When we had our last fallow year, in 2012, Charles Hazlewood took the date for his Orchestra in a Field. But we’ve had such a great run of Extravaganzas in recent years that we wanted to keep up the momentum, and we’re already in discussions with some fantastic performers. It’s shaping up to be another wonderful event for the town, its residents and its local businesses.”
