Paul McCartney appears to confirm Glastonbury Festival headline slot with a cryptic tweet

November 18

Glastonbury Festival has now officially confirmed Paul McCartney will be headlining the Worthy Farm-held event in 2020.

Breaking the news on Twitter Glastonbury said: “We are incredibly excited to announce that Paul McCartney will headline the Pyramid Stage on the Saturday night of Glastonbury 2020.”

It appears Paul McCartney has just announced he will be headlining Glastonbury’s 50 anniversary in 2020 in a very cryptic way.

The former Beatle posted an image from his official Twitter this morning (November 18), depicting Philip Glass, Emma Stone and Chuck Berry.

At a closer look at the three stars names, it is hard to overlook the fact that their surnames combined form the word: “Glass-Stone-Berry”.

Fans were quick to notice this and flocked to Twitter to express their jubilation.

The rumours of Macca returning to headline the iconic festival has been doing the rounds for quite some time – with Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis teasing an appearance from the legendary Beatle earlier in the year.

Speaking to BBC Somerset, Eavis said “hopefully for the 50th, yeah” when questioned whether the musician will be coming to Worthy Farm.

Macca last played Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage back in 2004, delivering a set spanning his career from his time in the Fab Four to Wings and his solo material.

Meanwhile, Mike Skinner and Carl Cox are the latest big-scale artist to self-confirm for Glastonbury 50th, following official announcement confirmations of both Wolf Alice and Diana Ross for the 2020 bill.

Despite the fact that the full line-up for Glastonbury 2020 has yet to be released – all tickets for the Festival’s 50th anniversary have now sold out, with General Admission tickets selling out in 33 minutes, following Coach + Ticket Packages which sold out in just 27 minutes.

There are still ways to go to Glastonbury next year, and in addition to being able to volunteer – there will also be a resale of any cancelled tickets in the spring, with coach + ticket packages going up for resale on April 16 – followed by a general admission tickets resale (which don’t include travel) on April 19.

Glastonbury 2020 will take place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset – from Wednesday 24th to Sunday 28th June.
