Glastonbury Festival has announced the first act for its 2025 bill, with Rod Stewart booked to perform on the Pyramid Stage in the coveted Sunday Teatime “legends” slot.
The 79-year-old singer-songwriter will perform on the iconic Stage at the Worthy Farm event on Sunday the 29th of June, after previously headlining the legendary festival back in 2002, alongside Coldplay and Stereophonics.
Announcing the news at 7:59am the morning (26th November) via their social channels, Glastonbury organisers wrote: “We’re excited to announce that Sir Rod Stewart will play the Sunday teatime legend slot at Glastonbury 2025.”
Stewart said: I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing Glastonbury 2025! After all these years, I’m proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June. I’ll see you there!”
Confirming the news on her official Instagram account, Glastonbury organiser, Emily Eavis wrote: “Bringing Sir Rod Stewart back for the Sunday afternoon slot on the Pyramid stage is everything we could wish for. What a way to bow out with the final legends slot before we take a fallow year. We cannot wait!”
Sir Rod Stewart is the first act to be officially confirmed for Glastonbury 2025 thus far and will follow the likes of Shania Twain, Yusuf / Cat Stevens, Diana Ross, Kylie Minogue, Dolly Parton and Barry Gibb in taking on the prestigious Legend Slot — which is often referred to as the Glastonbury’s fourth headliner slot.
Stewart will become one of the oldest artists to perform a major set at the Festival, though not the very oldest, with Burt Bacharach playing the Pyramid stage in 2015 at the age of 87, while in 2022, Paul McCartney headlined the week after his 80th birthday.
Being one of the best-selling artists in the history of recorded music with more than 250 million records and singles sold worldwide, earlier this year, Stewart’s Swing Fever album – a collaboration with Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra – garnered him his 11th No. 1 album in the UK — a feat he shares with David Bowie, Taylor Swift and U2 on the all-time list of acts with the most UK No. 1 albums.
The sold-out Glastonbury Festival is set to return next summer and will run from the 25th to the 29th of June in Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset.
Both Ticket Plus Coach Travel packages and General Admission tickets went on sale to the general public earlier this month on the 14th and 17th of November, respectively — with standard tickets selling out in only 35 minutes, and tickets packaged with coach travel all getting snapped up in just 32 minutes.
⚠️ Bogus Operators
Glastonbury Festival would very much like fans to be aware that there are people out there who will try and sell fake Glastonbury tickets to unsuspecting, willing and innocent potential purchasers. Although Glasto-veterans who have been going to the Festival for quite some time may recognise these scams for what they are, newcomers might not.
Please do not risk falling victim to touts, bogus operators or fake promotions / contests. If you have doubts about any company offering tickets, accommodation or competitions to access Glastonbury Festival, please get in touch with the Festival office – And as always, remember that tickets are sold only on one site, which is glastonbury.seetickets.com
Ticket Opportunities
In addition to the upcoming ticket resales, some other opportunities for getting to Glastonbury include volunteering and working at the Festival, as well as entering competitions (once those options make themselves available).
Although the Co-op Members competition is currently the only running contest to try and win next year’s event, we expect many more competitions to open up in the coming weeks and months in the build-up to the next edition of Glastonbury Festival.
Some past chances for winning tickets in previous years included opportunities from Brothers Cider, The Guardian, Vodafone, Time Out, White Claw, Tony’s Chocolonely & Oxfam, Chilly’s, Hunter Boots, Barbour & Oxfam, Co-op & Brooklyn Pilsner, and more.

Line-up & Rumours
As with every Glastonbury-year, speculation about who might play the legendary festival is always very high, and with the 2025 event fast approaching, the Glasto Rumour Mill is already spinning in full force.
Despite the first line-up poster not usually being revealed until the beginning of March, followed by the full line-up announcement sometime at the end of May (and a string of individual area line-up announcements in between), there are many artists who ‘self-confirm’ before the official announcements by divulging the news via interviews, social media or website listings to accompany the ever-growing rumours.
Apart from Rod Stewart, who has now been announced to play the Legends Slot at next year’s Festival, no other acts have been Officially Confirmed for the Glastonbury 2025 line-up as of this moment in time — although some prominent headliners names currently making the rumour rounds include Olivia Rodrig and Sam Fender, to name a few.
