Shangri-La is the sixth area to reveal its lineup roster for this year’s Glastonbury Festival, along with brand-new stages and a mystery theme, ‘The Wilding’.

Announcing the news this morning (Wednesday, 16th April) at 10:03am via their social channels, Glastonbury officials said: “Shangri-La presents: The Wilding. A new dawn calls in 2025… A rediscovery awaits…. What you water shall grow… The legendary SE corner area’s lineup poster was designed, hand-made, and hand-delivered in Somerset.”

❓ Did you know?

Shangri-La first appeared at Glastonbury in 2008 and has since become a fundamental part of the Festival’s late-night area, commonly known as the ‘Naughty Corner’.

After two years of critiquing consumer culture with the ‘Everything Must Go’ theme, creative director Kaye Dunnings and her team are now pushing the concept to its ultimate end: wiping the slate clean and beginning again.

“When we said Everything Must Go, we meant it; everything has gone,” explains Kaye. “This is a chance to start over and make everything new and exciting. And while ‘Everything Must Go’ was about critiquing capitalism and pointing out the problems with it, this new era will be about giving some answers and sharing solutions.”

In essence, this marks the most dramatic overhaul in Shangri-La’s 18-year history, with virtually everything being reimagined and few elements returning in their original form. “We’ve reset our communications, too,” adds Kaye. “This year, we want to celebrate one-on-one, real-life and analogue connections.”

For instance, instead of unveiling The Wildings on social media, they opted for a more personal touch — sending hand-crafted packages to press and artists that included stunning limited-edition risograph posters and packets of sunflower seeds, a simple yet evocative symbol of the ‘Wilding’ theme.

Each of the 100 limited-edition Shangri-La Line-up packages was meticulously handmade in the South West, featuring risograph prints by Josh at 16 Tonne Press and original artwork by Rosie Lee Wilson. The prints were made on 160gsm recycled, acid-free paper from Bristol-based Arboreta Papers, adding an extra layer of craftsmanship and sustainability.

But that’s just the beginning. Going forward, Shangri-La will share all announcements and visuals exclusively through a new mailing list titled Sign up for joy!. The aim is to keep festival-goers informed in a thoughtful, curated way — offering a calm alternative to the noise and clutter of the socials.

With a deep history of celebrating underrepresented art and culture, come June, Shangri-La will introduce a completely redesigned field, known as ‘The Wilding’, with explicit information about the 2025 theme kept completely secret until the Festival opens this summer.

Introducing four new music stages for 2025, Shangri-La is set to include the Main Stage, Lore, Luna, and Azaadi, along with the only returning area being Nomad, which is “a space for the underrepresented to unite and take up space”.

The eclectic bill (shown below) includes Kneecap, who have already been announced for this year’s West Holts Stage, after playing a late-night set at Shangri-La’s Peace stage last year [2024].

There’s also the likes of Savages frontwoman Jehnny Beth (DJ set), and Bambie Thug. In addition to Glasto-staple Fatboy Slim, who will play his 100th Glastonbury show at Shangri-La. Other slots from Example, Katy B (live), Pa Salieu, Mas Tiempo (Skepta), Bobby Friction, Joy (Anonymous), Corto.Alto, Pxssy Palace and more are all on the expansive bill.

Director Robin Collings said: “Shangri-La’s music programme has always been led by the artists and communities who take over our stages, bringing people together for truly beautiful moments.

“This year’s lineup is possibly our best yet, and we’re over the moon to have some of our long-time friends like Fatboy Slim and Roni Size returning, but the magic of Shangri-La is in the discovery; we want people to come with open hearts and find something completely new.”

Director Chris ‘Tofu’ Macmeikan added: “This is a truly epic time in Shangri-La’s history. It feels incredibly special to be growing a completely new field for people to discover for the first time together.

“Of course, we’re retaining the essence of Shangri-La, and Lore will host the sounds from across the globe that we will always champion. Arrivals was a vital moment for South Asian music at the festival, so retaining a South Asian space in Shangri-La was a top priority and we’re excited with the plans for Azaadi. That’s all I can say. For the rest, you’ll have to wait and see.”

Latest Lineup

The first announcement line-up poster was revealed earlier this year (6th March), in which it confirmed that headliners The 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo will all be taking to the iconic Pyramid Stage on Friday 27th, Saturday 28th, and Sunday 29th of June, respectively.

Rod Stewart was also announced as this year’s Sunday afternoon tea-time Legends slot performer. Other names featured in the ever-growing bill include Loyle Carner, Charli XCX, Biffy Clyro, The Maccabees, Lucy Dacus, Father John Misty, RAYE, Wolf Alice, The Prodigy, Doechii, St. Vincent, Gary Numan, Deftones, Scissor Sisters, The Libertines, Wet Leg — and first-time appearances from Alanis Morissette, Doechii and En Vogue.

Now that the first poster has been revealed, going by previous years, we can expect the full line-up announcement sometime at the end of May / beginning of June, with a string of individual area line-up announcements in between.

As of the time of writing, 6 areas and stages have already announced their dedicated line-up posters for this year’s event, including Shangri-La, Croissant Neuf, Silver Hayes, West Holts, Field of Avalon, and the Acoustic Stage.

That said, there are many artists who ‘self-confirm’ before the official announcements by divulging the news via interviews, social media or website listings to accompany the ever-growing Glasto rumours.

Build Progress

Meanwhile, with each passing day, in preparation for this year’s highly anticipated event, Worthy Farm is looking more and more like the world-famous Glastonbury Festival we all know and love.

The iconic Pyramid Stage finally began to get dressed earlier this month (10th April), after the covers (which were dropped off days earlier and lying on the ground beside the iconic structure) were raised and cloaked over the Port side of the pyramid skeleton, as seen in the visual post below.

With gates to the public on the 25th of June, and as more containers carrying equipment continue to arrive on-site intermittently, we can expect the build to grow in intensity as more iconic stages and venues come to life once again to create the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world.

You can now continue following the build via the BBC Glastonbury webcam, here.

Ticket Competitions

Last November saw the first main wave of tickets, which included tickets packaged with coach travel selling out in just 32 minutes, before General Admission tickets were all snapped up in 35 minutes.

In addition to the upcoming ticket re-sales, some other opportunities for getting to Glastonbury include volunteering and working at the Festival, as well as entering competitions (once those options make themselves available).

Just recently, Brother Cider, who have once again been confirmed as the ‘Official Cider’ of Glastonbury Festival for 2025, announced that they are giving away 5 pairs of tickets to this year’s event.

Other chances for winning tickets to this year’s event include Vodafone, Chilly’s, Barbour & Oxfam, and more — as detailed in our daily updated list of Glastonbury competitions, here.

⚠️ Bogus Operators

Glastonbury Festival would like fans to be aware that there are people out there who will try to sell fake Glastonbury tickets to unsuspecting, willing and innocent potential purchasers. Although Glasto-veterans who have been going to the Festival for quite some time may recognise these scams for what they are, newcomers might not.

Please do not risk falling victim to touts, bogus operators or fake promotions / contests. If you have doubts about any company offering tickets, accommodation or competitions to access Glastonbury Festival, please get in touch with the Festival office – and as always, remember: tickets are sold only on one site, which is glastonbury.seetickets.com
