Portaclue: The world’s crappiest escape room is coming to Glastonbury 2022

Located in the incredible Theatre & Circus Fields

What is it?

Portaclue: The T.U.R.D.I.S. (Toilet utilities requiring dexterity, intelligence & skill), is a 15-minute mini escape room game that takes place inside a (non-operational) portable toilet.

It’s perfect for any experience level and can accommodate two players, or three if they don’t mind a more intimate escaping experience.

Players are met and briefed by outlandish, in-character game hosts, who are also on hand to provide assistance when needed – Teams are never locked in.

The game will run from 11:00 – 19:00 on the Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of the festival, in Bella’s Field.

Games can be booked at the start of each day, but walk-up games will also be available. Come and find us if you’d like to play.

Who Made It?

The Portaclue team is headed up by Sarah Gathercole and David Middleton from Bewilder Box Escape Rooms in Brighton, who decided to combine their love of festivals and designing immersive games to create The T.U.R.D.I.S.

Both are long time Glastonbury fans who got engaged at the festival up at the Crows Nest in 2014.

They are absolutely thrilled to be part of the festival in 2022 and can’t wait to bring their zany brand of mind-boggling fun to the Theatre & Circus Fields for Glastonbury for the 50th anniversary.

Thank you to Haggis, Buzz and the rest of the team for having us.

What’s the Story?

Doctor Pooh and loyal assistant No 2 are a pair of interdimensional explorers, gallivanting through space and time in search of only the most wonderful parties.

Their chosen method of transport is The T.U.R.D.I.S., a vessel conveniently disguised as a portable toilet, which gains its quantum powers from the ‘Flush Capacitor’.

But disaster strikes. Whilst on a routine knees up at the popular Earth festival known as Glastonbury, The Doctor and No 2 overindulge at the Stone Circle one night. They awaken having misplaced the three cosmic proton nuggets required to power the Flush Capacitor, rendering them trapped in this dimension FOREVER!

With hangovers in full swing and the combined mental agility of a Terry’s Chocolate Orange, they’re relying on YOU to unlock the T.U.R.D.I.S., retrieve the cosmic proton nuggets and reactivate the Flush Capacitor.

Will you answer this challenge with a hearty laugh and a self-assured thumbs up? Do you have the noggin to tackle this most mind-boggling bog? Will Doctor Pooh and No 2 finally make it to the dimension where Ringo is headlining? Find out the answer to all of these questions and more, as you prepare to enter The T.U.R.D.I.S!
