Stormzy announced as first Glastonbury 2019 headliner!

Stormzy has just been confirmed as Glastonbury 2019’s first headliner via the “Glastonbury Free Press”!

Following previous indications by the grime heavyweight himself earlier this year – a poster has emerged online earlier today (November 15th) via what seems to be a pre-printed copy of the festival’s own “Glastonbury Free Press” – displayed in the windows of Oxfam’s shops in Glastonbury town centre and in Streatham, close to where Stormzy grew up.

Oxfam staff have confirmed to The Independent that they were advised to display the posters under the instruction of management. Oxfam is one of the main charity organisations tied to the festival.

The poster reads: “Stormzy Friday! First Glastonbury headliner revealed”.

UPDATE: Glastonbury Festival has now officially confirmed that Stormzy is the first headliner for Glastonbury 2019. The multi award-winning British MC will headline the Pyramid Stage on Friday, June 28th!

The award-winning grime and hip-hop artist took to the Other Stage at last year’s Glastonbury Festival, for what not only turned out to be a fantastic performance.

Stormzy’s 2017 performance made headlines not only for it being packed to the rafters but also for featuring an impassioned and heartfelt speech about the Grenfell fire. Not to mention creating the largest moshpit in Glastonbury history, while concluding his performance with ‘Shut Up’ which turned into a delirious singalong.

The Croydon icons’ appointment to Worthy Farm’s iconic Pyramid Stage will mark a strong global platform for the grime genre as a whole, and comes ahead of Stormzy’s anticipated second studio album, expected early-2019.
