Where the ladies at?
Fast becoming Glastonbury Festival’s most infamous all-night party, The Rum Shack is an 800-capacity barn structure packed with the best live music, DJ’s and surprise guests. A feast of late-night revelry that mashes up soundsystem culture, hip hop, funk, blues and poetry – fuelled by the finest rum. You won’t forget it. It’s your new home. You can’t miss it. The sign is massive.
Taking to their official Facebook page earlier today (14th January), The Rum Shack has pledged to book 50/50 gender balanced line-up for this year’s Glastonbury Festival!
The Facebook post reads: “Tell us … who are your favourite female-led live acts, DJs and speakers that you would like to see at the infamous Rum Shack?”

In previous years Rum Shack has championed the likes of Kate Tempest, Eska, Jenna G, Sophia Thakur, Speech Debelle, Becca Dee – and seen Duchess DJs Bristol go from winning our inaugural competition… to become Rum Shack residents… to playing at The Temple (3000-cap!) at Glastonbury’s The Common.
Lyrix Organix programmes and manages The Rum Shack in The Common late night area. It is open from 8pm-6am and has since 2013 has become one of the most popular late night destinations at the world’s most famous music festival.
Earlier last year The Rum Shack surprised everyone by coming to London for a special party – in association with Fox Fest – to raise money for Refugee Community Kitchen (founded by Glastonbury The Common’s very own Steve Bedlam) and for Jimmy.
The event took place on Friday 29 June at the Fox and Firkin.
Meanwhile, joining Stormzy at this year’s Glastonbury Festival will be Janelle Monae, who is confirmed to headline the West Holts Stage, and Kylie Minogue who’ll be taking the Sunday tea-time legends slot on the Pyramid Stage.
Although the full line-up will probably not be unveiled by Glastonbury Festival’s officials until the end of March / beginning of April, you can check out the latest Glastonbury 2019 line-up rumours (not necessarily likely) HERE.
Glastonbury 2019 will take place between June 26 and 30 at Worthy Farm, Pilton.
